A NEW ERA FOR KOMBAT
Since its establishment, Kombat has served and continues to serve its residents, as well as thousands of residents from surrounding farms and settlements. Services and facilities available at Kombat include a primary school, a medical treatment center, shops, and other basic services. In April 2015, a new era dawned on Kombat after Namibian businessman Knowledge Katti purchased the mine with the intention of mobilizing investment funds to revive the town by refurbishing its infrastructure. Plans include developing water pipeline networks, roads, electrical infrastructure, and providing access to the railway. Following several years of economic downturn, which included the closure of the mine, residents are again hopeful following the announcement of this blueprint to revive the Town.
THE FUTURE OF KOMBAT IS INTERWOVEN INTO ITS CLIMATE OF PEACE AND STABILITY, AN ENABLING INVESTMENT CLIMATE, AND THE MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE THAT NAMIBIA HAS BECOME KNOWN FOR WORLDWIDE.
This has created an ideal opportunity to develop Kombat into a unique haven for discerning investors from Namibia and other parts of the world. The blueprint for the revival of Kombat envisions a modern oasis, with state-of-the-art services and amenities. The blueprint includes residential properties, recreational facilities, shopping centers, schools, health facilities, business premises, and information technology with broadband connectivity. These combined developments will make Kombat a modern center, which we prefer to call “a Smart Town”, to live, study, work, and play.
Kombat currently has 208 houses with the potential of 300 more with the current zoning earmarked for residential purposes.
The blueprint also envisions Kombat becoming more fully integrated into the neighboring areas as a service center where residents of surrounding areas can access modern services.
A community development orientation will be pursued as part and parcel of the development of Kombat. This will be implemented on the model of The Knowledge Foundations, established by Mr. Katti in 2008.
The Foundations has three components, namely:
with a primary focus on education. To date, the foundation has put 102 students through University.
focusing on community cohesion and advancement.
operating in the area of welfare and healthcare related issues.
Plans are underway to expand the local school in the area, which currently caters to students from grades 1 through 7. Mr. Katti plans to expand the school to also cater to grades 8 through 12. Currently, the school has around 350 scholars, 100 of which are from Kombat and the rest from neighboring areas.
In order to secure buy-in from the current residents of Kombat, fruitful meetings have been held between Mr. Katti and the residents. This has paved the way to craft a shared vision for the future of the town.
AN INVESTMENT DRIVE HAS BEEN INITIATED TO ATTRACT LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL INVESTORS TO INVEST IN KOMBAT. AN ABUNDANT OPPORTUNITY FOR INVESTMENT WAITS AT KOMBAT.
